Come Prepared

If you've got an eye exam penciled in for some time in the near future, there are ways to be extra prepared for it. There are a few things you should inform us of to help make sure your exam is a useful one.

Because eyes can be affected by seemingly unrelated health conditions, it's vital that you let us know about any differences you might be aware of. What are the sorts of conditions we'd need to be informed of? Here are some examples: diabetes, pregnancy, high blood pressure or allergies.

We will also take into consideration some details regarding your current lifestyle, such as whether you smoke or drink alcohol, because this can also be a factor in a few eye conditions. In addition, we'll examine what you're actually using your eyes for. Do you work in a factory, or do you sit at a computer the entire day? Knowing these facts will make it easier for us to figure out your vision correction needs.

Because several eye conditions are genetic, it is important that you tell us if there are any of them in your immediate family, especially macular degeneration or glaucoma. Understandably, it's much less complicated to look out for certain signs when we already know what you may be susceptible to.

Warning signs include changes to your vision like double vision, seeing spots or flashes of light, and blurriness. If you start to experience any of these, come see us as soon as you're able to. We'll then do our very best to get to bottom of the root of the condition, and figure out the best possible treatment. It's also helpful if you take your most recent glasses along to your appointment. They give us important information, even if you wear contact lenses. Together, we will discover the best way to tend to all your eye needs.
